PERMANENT QUEST: HERB-A-REORE

QUEST LOG

Herb-a-Reore

With the large influx of Travelers, so comes the Merging, where the worlds of the visitors and Restoria begin to mesh and mix. The Sentinels take care to catalog many of these changes, including the new flora that show up around the cities, which they carefully cultivate in the large Conservatory. With the Travelers available, they request assistance in cataloging all of these new arrivals, offering each Traveler a reward of Reore for their time and expertise. Who better to help them make sure they don't miss a single herb or flower?

Travelers may recognize various plants from their own world, some benign, some less so. Some might even seem to have minds of their own: tendrils that reach out and poke, sticky webs designed to capture the unobservant, or sweet smells that make one sleepy. Please take care and make sure to label them properly.

She's always liked growing things and herbs are often fascinating things when they're from all sorts of different worlds. So she takes the quest, quietly cataloguing the plants she knows from her own explorations and finds several that are close to those she's seen on various worlds. Arha labels them with neat precision, gathering samples of those she knows aren't sentient and noting the effects of those she doesn't.

One reaches out to encircle her arm, tightening a little as it poked at her. She stops what she's doing and lays a hand on the climbing, tightening limb. It's hard and smooth, she notes and is going to leave a mark with how fast it's tightening. Best to try calming it.

"Please don't," she murmurs, reaching out with the Force to soothe it, "I'm neither tasty nor a threat. I shan't clip you but I will capture an image of you if that's alright."

One never knows if the creeping things are actually sentient or not. She finds it best to at least try to make sure peace is an option with them. So far, Arha's been lucky and all the herbs have been non-sentient. She can sense the ones with different purposes, though, so there's that.

The tension eases somewhat and it slips away with another squeeze and a poke. Whew. She catalogues it and gently rubs at her arm with a soft ouch.

"Are you all right?"

This from a feminine voice behind Arha and to her right -- and when she turns she'll see a very tall, slim woman with blue-gray skin, deep violet hair done up in a high-set ponytail, and long ears that taper to points. Striking, but perhaps not all that unusual-looking given some of the things the Jedi has likely seen in her own world.

Alais tucks the notebook she'd been using to catalog various plants with underneath her elbow and reaches out one hand to the offending spot on Arha's arm, fingers hovering above it without quite touching. A soft, shimmering blue-white radiance glows from her fingertips, and whatever bruising or injury that may have been about to develop is abruptly arrested and fades.

"We've plants like that where I come from," she notes. "At least this one didn't poison you." Ochus are also distinctly more unfriendly for the most part -- whatever plant this is just seems like it was defending itself.

( ooc: not sure how Arha would read a magic-user but you're welcome to have her mistake Alais for a Force-user? the Force is just space magic after all :D )

"Ah, thank you," she said gently. "Your kindness is much appreciated. It was just an abrasion, no real harm done. The plant was just protecting itself from a clipping and right to do so. It seems to have more will than the others or at least more self-awareness. Are you a healer? You've much skill."
